PIT BULL POLICY:
Because of the overpopulation of this breed in our area and the public safety risk an unaltered dog can pose, no pit bull will be turned away as a S.N.I.P. Clinic client, regardless of the owner’s financial situation. KHS will reserve several surgery spots each day to perform free pit bull surgeries for those who cannot afford the low-cost rates. We expect to complete well over 500 free pit bull surgeries this year.
Who is Eligible?
Why Spay and Neuter…?
Because honestly, they’re just not going to do it themselves. But, if your pets knew the benefits, we think they would!
- Spaying or neutering allows your pet to live a longer, healthier life; an average of 3-5 years longer for cats and 1-3 years longer for dogs!
- Neutering your dog also keeps him from getting any bad publicity! Did you know that intact male dogs are almost 3 times more likely to bite than their neutered counterparts?
- In female dogs and cats, the risk of mammary gland tumors and ovarian and uterine cancer is reduced and can be completely eliminated if they are spayed before the first heat cycle.
- The risk of testicular cancer is completely eliminated in male dogs and cats. (No testicles, no cancer!)
The benefits to you and your pet are clear.
But, you should also be aware of the benefits to the animals in our region. Each year, literally thousands of animals are euthanized right here in our area because there simply are not enough homes for them all.
This tragic situation can only be eliminated through a targeted, high-volume, spay/neuter program. Not even KHS, the state’s largest animal adoption agency, can adopt our way out of this crisis. This problem must be addressed at the source with sterilization. Pets can’t practice “safe sex,” so they need our help to reduce the overpopulation until there are enough homes for every adoptable animal.
For the love of your pet, and the pets in our community, please have the companion animals in your home spayed or neutered.
