EDA was incorporated in July, 2001. The non-profit authority was authorized under interlocal agreement between the Spencer County Fiscal Court and the Taylorsville City Commission. The Authority's primary interest lies in attracting and retaining industry and businesses that provide jobs to residents of Taylorsville and Spencer County. Other prominent programs are the development of commerical business in the region and tourism.

The Economic Development Authority is available to assist industry and business with information and planning that will encourage job development in Spencer County. They also work cooperatively with community organizations that have interest in, or need assistance with, industrial and commerical business growth and services.
